Hans and Gerda Wimmer found the company “Wimmer Innenausbau”, with the business idea of making wood products for DIY home improvers.
Already early on, the company’s strength was offering special individual solutions: with machines specifically developed and made for that.
The first production hall for manufacturing structured and stained boards was completed at the end of the year with much personal contribution to the new brick building.
The demand for refined profile wood was high: the company now had its own joinery, its own surface hall and a high-rise warehouse (1,500 sq. m).
The first wide planks left the plant for Munich.
Carpenters produced the hand-chopped decks and boards from solid timber using the old crafting traditions with perseverance, strength and concentration.
In the joinery, mass-produced solid timber furniture was made, which was planned, implemented and constructed in full to prior checking at Wimmer.
A 40-metre-long surface processing line with a spraying machine and automatic drying undertook the efficient production on small and large scales. Then healthy living with domestic wood types became even more popular.
Individually planned decks to meet the customer’s wishes resulted in modern colours and shapes: everything was individually planned and constructed from finished parts and/or with special manufacturing with various partners in the wood trade.
The core Wimmer skill “wide planks” got a new name and a new look: VILLA stood for traditional and modern techniques in surface processing and for many years of expertise.
The new throughput press facilities did not only increase performance: lengths of up to 14 metres were possible, special measurements and special woods could be delivered more quickly. But the surface layers were still sorted by hand with trained eyes and much skill before pressing.
The first Wimmer showroom for wide planks and special floors opened in Mühldorf – customers came from Germany, Austria, Russia, Spain and Switzerland.
Wimmer carried out the first floor projects for luxury yachts.
