Colours
During our refining process, we dye our wooden flooring with premium pigments and a degree of lime washing and fuming attuned to each individual colour shade. This is an elaborate procedure, but it allows the dye to penetrate deep into the wood. We provide 30 different shades for the standard range of our main collection in oak. We have developed dedicated colour catalogues for other types of wood. Bespoke colour shades can also be offered upon request.

The oak collection
Earth
encompasses a range of lively shades that bring out various nuances in the natural character of the oak’s colour. All six colours in this collection unfold their effect from within the wood itself and highlight the growth pattern of the wood’s surface – together they discreetly model the surface of the wood. During the refining process, we avoid using lime and treating the surface of the wood with additional pigments so that the earthy honey shade of the oak is not falsified. This makes our EARTH collection the most natural of Wimmer’s colour domains. It showcases the typical radiant character in the colouring of the oak, which intensifies over time.

Sand
describes a balanced colour domain with six light colour shades. In this collection, the oak’s honey-like shade is significantly toned down. The very finely nuanced colours are achieved using a high proportion of lime or white-pigmented oil during the refining process. The atmosphere they create is characterised by a clarity and purity that is retained throughout the years. Furthermore, the high proportion of white conceals the natural growth marks in the surface of the wood, resulting in homogeneous, rather quiet floor patterns.

Reed
This collection encompasses six quiet colour shades reminiscent of the fine nuances of dried reed. All surfaces in the REED collection are lime washed and fumed during the refining process, bringing the vitality of the wood to the fore despite the discreet overall effect. The result is a range of colours that have a calming effect and discreetly reflect the growth pattern on the surface of the wood in interplay with the incidental light.

Pebble
The PEBBLE collection is made up of five shades of grey that add a modern, elegant twist to the colours of our oak floors without seeming artificial. With the PEBBLE colour range, the original honey-like shade of the oak recedes into the background, bringing various nuances of grey to the fore. Once again, this shows the great value of wood dyeing as an integral part of the refining process. Even if not originally attributable to the oak, every shade of grey comes across as authentic and lends the floor pattern an elegance that retains the timber’s natural expressiveness.

Slate
Eye-catching and proud are the best words to describe the colours in the SLATE collection, which features black in three subtle variations. Fumed and refined with black-pigmented oil, this collection features striking wooden flooring that does not withdraw into the background but defines the style of an entire room. The depth of the colouring lends floors both elegance and a sense of calm. Although the wood’s natural growth pattern withdraws somewhat into the background, it does discreetly loosen up the dominance of the black surface.

Moor
The distinctive characteristic of the four colours in the MOOR range is their expressiveness, as it is not really possible to pin them down to one specific colour. Depending on how the light falls, they vary in their brown or grey components, whereby the floor pattern develops an extravagant yet subtle display of colour. On the whole, the colour shades tend to remain on the dark, elegant side of the spectrum. All the different atmospheres conjured up by the colours work in conjunction with the grain on the surface to discreetly reflect the incidental light.

I don’t know any other manufacturer of wooden flooring that is so accomplished in bringing out the subtle differences in the colour of wood. Wimmer is able to interpret a colour concept just as the architect intended.
