Wimmer floorboards.

As our floorboards are handcrafted at our customers’ request, we can be extremely flexible when it comes to dimensions and laying a new floor. We can provide our oak floorboards in lengths up to 12.00 metres and widths up to 50 centimetres. It is important to us to lay floors in such a way that the whole tree is used. This is achieved by using “random” lengths and widths, i.e. the dimensions of the floorboards that are laid are determined by the natural dimensions of the tree trunk. Being round, they produce different widths and vary in height. It is possible to alternate using 3 to 5 variations depending on the size of the room. The job of our expert fitter is to compose a lively yet balanced floor pattern ideally customised to the dimensions of the room. Furthermore, upon request, we can implement other laying patterns such as the more visually regimented brick bond.

The floorboards are laid lengthwise without joins and in random widths from wall to wall. The result is a very homogeneous, generous floor pattern, whose floorboards are worked to fit the exact dimensions of the room. The maximum length for room-length fitting is 12.00 m; the widths are between 15 and 50 cm.

Long Wimmer floorboard

The floor pattern is created with boards in random lengths and widths, thus creating a random pattern with irregularly positioned joins. In contrast to the rigid laying pattern of click system boards, this allows the development of customised, generous floor patterns that highlight the fundamental natural character of a wooden floor. Long Wimmer floorboards can be laid in lengths between 300 and 500 cm and widths between 15 and 33 cm.

Generally speaking, the laying pattern resembles that of the long floorboard, but doesn’t appear quite so generous due to the shorter lengths. Moreover, the natural differences in colour and structure between the individual floorboards are more prominent due to the larger number of joins. Short Wimmer floorboards can be laid in lengths between 200 and 300 cm and widths between 15 and 33 cm.

Compact Wimmer floorboards

The laying pattern of our simp lest floorboard works with a 220 cm length and the defined widths 16/19.5/24.5 cm. It is the most economical of all our different versions and only leaves a little room for customisation during installation. The floor pattern is more on the compact side due to the narrower and shorter boards. The surface quality is the same as with classical Wimmer floorboards, but the wear layer is thinner, thus reducing the thickness of the board as a whole.

The laying pattern of our simplest floorboard works with a 220 cm length and the fixed widths 16/19.5/24.5 cm. It is the most economical of all our different versions and only leaves a little room for customisation during installation. Traditional installation methods

Traditional laying patterns give rooms a completely different character to plank floors. The effect is more elegant and exclusive. This is another segment in which our handcrafted approach to manufacturing allows us to offer our customers a truly bespoke service, both in terms of the circumstances presented by the architecture and the combination of traditional patterns with different surface textures, grades or colours. The floor pattern therefore opens up highly flexible options with respect to the design of a room. Like our planks, the elements in the traditional laying patterns consist of three layers. We refine the top layer, the wear layer, so that the quality does not differ from the surface of a plank floor.

Such installation methods – whose most popular versions are herringbone, panel parquet and basket weave – require a great deal of skill and care as the floor pattern is composed of many different individual pieces. If a homogeneous, convincing floor pattern is to be achieved, a completely individual approach has to be taken to utilising the given space. Such wooden floors can only achieve their full beauty if they are handcrafted. Classical patterns are usually surrounded by a frieze that seems to hold the floor like a passe-partout. This is especially recommended for larger rooms to further highlight their stately character.
