Munich’s new hotspot featuring 4,000 m2 of Wimmer flooring
The opening of Rosewood Munich in the heart of Munich’s historic centre marks the beginning of a new chapter in the city’s hotel scene – and Wimmer wooden flooring is one of the attractions. In two iconic buildings – the former Bayerische Staatsbank and the neighbouring Palais Neuhaus-Preysing – we laid almost 4,000 m2 of exquisite wooden flooring for a variety of installation methods: herringbone, panel flooring, basket weave and floorboards. This inspired our partners at Wöretshofer Interior to develop outstanding floor patterns that blended in perfectly with the various room settings. A result that can only be achieved when perfect craftsmanship is combined with first-rate installation. The bespoke colour ranges for Rosewood Munich were developed on the basis of our Earth and Pebble colour collections.Munich’s new hotspot featuring 4,000 m2 of Wimmer flooring

The bespoke colour ranges for Rosewood Munich were developed on the basis of our Earth and Pebble colour collections. Baroque splendour with a contemporary take The esteemed firm of architects Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht was responsible for the building restoration together with Tara Bernerd & Partners, a renowned design company based in London. The design skilfully combines the splendour of the Baroque and Rococo architecture with a contemporary take and timeless elegance. Thanks to the Wimmer wooden flooring company’s customised production methods and installation performed to fit in with the overall design, the company succeeded in reflecting this special architectural approach in the floor patterns created by the wooden surfaces.
Beautiful. Rugged. Low maintenance. The wooden flooring’s top wear layer was refined in an intricate process that demanded up to 100 manual operations. Colouring is an integrated element of this refinement process in our manufacturing. The dye penetrates deep into the wood, giving a unique depth of colour. The patina on the surface of the wood will develop in constant harmony with the architectural concept as the years go by. The refinement process also minimises the amount of maintenance required as, in most cases, the oiled surfaces do not have to be sanded down even in a hotel with heavy foot traffic.
Keeps its shape and conforms to strict sustainability guidelines The raw materials for the wooden flooring in Rosewood Munich are sourced entirely from sustainable forestry. What’s more, all floors are engineered in three layers. That means only the top layer is made of high-grade oak with the base being constructed from quickly replenishable timbers and bonded without causing emissions. Its cross-ply construction helps wooden flooring keep its shape for a long time.
